COVID-19 Response Update

This month has been a whirlwind of extreme change. Although our schools are closed, we remain committed to our students and mission: connect, create, and guide a multi-generational community of lifelong learners and spirited citizens as they strive for academic excellence.

As you already know, K-12 schools are closed through April 3rd. Faced with this unprecedented situation, we quickly implemented the COVID-19 School Closure Plan for Educational Continuity for our students:

Packets awaiting pick up at Lakeshore Intergenerational School

PHASE I: Learning During 3 Week Spring Break

Each student was provided with an Education Enrichment PacketThese packets included materials for reading, writing, and math practice. The content focused on skills students already know and are comfortable doing independently.

Our teachers are making phone calls to each family to check in on their general well-being and answer any questions they may have about the materials provided in the packets. Also, teachers are available by email to support our families during the unanticipated spring break weeks

PHASE II: Learning Beyond Spring Break

We are preparing for a likely extended closure. The Intergenerational Schools' Boards of Directors are virtually meeting to review and approve a Distance Learning Education Plan. This meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 31, 2020.

We will continue to closely monitor updates comings from our state and healthcare leaders. Communications from our schools can be found at www.IntergenerationalSchools.org/COVID-19.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out to offer support to our students. As the situation unfolds, we are anticipating the need for additional pieces of technology and educational resources to send home to our students.

You can help our students by making a gift to the Friends of the Intergenerational Schools Annual Fund. You support is greatly appreciated.
